Mantegna, The Last Don (1997), The Rat Pack (1999) ve The Starter Wife (2007) adlı mini dizilerdeki rolleriyle Emmy Ödülleri'ne aday gösterildi. Ayrıca Corduroy (1984), Hoods (1998) ve Lakeboat (2000) filmlerinin baş yapımcılığını üstlendi.

Mantegna, kısa süreli televizyon dizilerinde de rol aldı: First Monday (2002), Joan of Arcadia (2003-2005). 1991'den beri Simpsonlar dizisinde çete lideri Şişman Tony'yi seslendirmektedir. 2007'de drama dizisi Criminal Minds'e katıldı.
