Alexander Ross (1590 - 1654), üretken bir İskoçyalı yazar ve tartışma ustasıydı. Aberdeen’de doğdu. 1634’ten ölümüne kadar Wight Adası’nda Carisbrooke’un rahibi olarak görev yaptı. Aynı zamanda 1649’da İngiliz İç savaşı sırasında Püriten ordu komutanlarınca idam edilen talihsi İngiliz Kralı Charles I’in de papazlığını yapıyordu. 1645’te Püriten Parlamento tarafından idam edilen Piskopos Laud’un arkadaşı olmasına rağmen Ross tehdit altında olmuş olabilir, ancak yeni rejim tarafından kendisine ilişilmediği görülüyor.
Ross’un en önemli işlerinden biri, kralın idam edildiği yıl basılan ve tam olarak İngilizceye çevrilen Kur’andır. Kendisi hiç Arapça bilmiyordu ve Du Ryer’in Fransızca çevirisinden çok yetersiz bir şekilde çevirmişti; bu ilk İngilizce çeviriydi ve onun olumsuz etkisi günümüze kadar ki çevirilerde azalsa da devam etmektedir.
Thomas Browne’a (kristalin buzun bir çeşit fosilleşmiş hali olduğu ve sarımsakın manyetizma içerdiği gibi görüşleri savunarak), Kopernik kuramına ve birçok başka çağdaş düşünceye saldırmıştır.
Aberdeen doktorlarından biri olarak İskoç Episcopal Kilisesinin Azizler takvimine göre her yıl 28 Mart’ta anılmaktadır.
