Though the New Mutants were able to stabilize Legion's psyche, his mind was that of a 10-year-old boy. Naively thinking he was helping his father, Legion traveled back in time to kill Magneto. Legion ended up killing his father instead when Professor X selflessly dove in front of Magneto to save his life.
