Kastamonu and forests

Kastamonu has got one of the best forests of Turkey. The series of forest that stretches from Bolu to Ordu called the Isfendiyar Daglari or lately they are called the Kure Daglari.

In this large and magnificent forest you can be able to find thousand of different flora and hundresds of different wild animals and many many more wild insects and unnamed creatures. They remind the “untouched planets” to the wild life watchers. Therefore we strongly advise the visitors to Kastamonu to take a mountain tours to discover the beauties of this lovely region.

You may not be able to find restaurants anywhere you go in Kastamonu’s highland villages. But do not be afraid to go and ask anyone in the willage for some food. People will be more than happy to provide you something from their heart. And something they grow in their back gardens. Be prepared to eat all natural and all organic food there. Starting from yoghurt to all sorts of cheese and from special Turkish pastry to vegetarian dishes and from mountain kebabs to well know Kastamonu Kuyu Kebab.
