İngilizcede Yes-No sorusu yapmak için tek yapmanız gereken yardımcı fiili cümlenin başına getirmektir. Bu yardımcı fiiller şunlardır:
be (am,is,are), have/has/had, will, would, can, could, shall, should, may, might ve must
Örnek bazı cümleler:

Olumlu cümle:The taxi is here.Ann has arrived.You can play.Soru cümlesi:Is the taxi here?Has Ann arrived?Can you play?

Aşağıdaki tabloda, solda karışık verilen kelimeler, sağda düzeltilerek soru cümlesi yapılmıştır:

Eğer olumlu cümlede bir yardımcı fiil yok ise, özneden önce do/does/did yardımcı fiilleri cümlenin başına getirilir. Fiiller de yalın yani mastar halde (to olmadan) kullanılır. -s almış ise -s kaldırılır, fiil 2. halde kullanılmış ise 1. hale çevrilir.

Olumlu cümle:I need a visa.Soru cümlesi:Do I need visa?Olumlu cümle:John wants to go home.Soru cümlesi:Does John want to go home?

Aşağıda you ile kurulmuş yes/no sorularını inceleyelim:

Do you understand?
Did you call me?
Do you drink coffee?
Do you like jazz?
Did you know Andrew?
Do you work in London?

Aşağıda he ile kurulmuş yes/no sorularını inceleyelim:

Does he play football?
Does he speak Arabic?
Does he know Mr Peters?
Does he work in London?

Özneden önce sadece yardımcı fiil kullanılır:

Doğru:Is her father working todayYanlış:Is working her father today?Doğru:Has your brother got children?Yanlış:Has got your brother children?

Eğer cümleler uzun öznelere sahipse buna da dikkat edelim:

Is Ann coming tomorrow?
Are Ann and her mother coming tomorrow?
